About 3 hrs drive to the north of Auckland is Bay of Islands, a bay of over 150 small islands most of them still unexplored to date. These beaches and islands are popular for the pristine beaches, adrenalin rushing activities like water sports and sky diving, sight seeing on islands like Russell or if you want to do nothing and just chill out!
Rotoura, Taupo and the Tongariro National Park
Let it be a visit to the Geo Thermal Park checking out the “Lady Knox” Geyser or to the Tongariro National Park for one of the world’s most popular day hike or daring to jump off the platform at Taupo Bungy these places are a must visit.
Ninety Mile beach
Take your 4WD for a ride along the beach enjoying the lovely views or leave your car to get your hands dirty with your quadbike… your choice!
While the Auckland CBD, when compared to Sydney, is relatively smaller, the people were extra-ordinarily friendly and are very welcoming everywhere you go. The added benefit of travelling during christmas time is the beautiful X-mas decoration throughout the city that makes it amazingly beautiful and jaw-dropping.
Waiheke, being so close to Auckland, still preserves its gorgeous nature, the forests and the birds, beautiful beaches and provides loads of activities catering for people who want to lazy around and just chill to people who are super active and want that little bit more in their holidays! Cant believe this amazing place is only an hour away from Auckland and I would definitely recommend either a day or a weekend away!

South Island’s Central Otago region is popular for its world class PinotNoirs. So while you are there make sure to hit the cellar doors, get some great tastings done and get a bottle or 4 even!
Fox Glacier & Fran Josef Glacier
The 2 glaciers in the south island are like the jewels in the South island. You should definitely check them out and go for a hike. One of the best things you can do in the South Island. HINT: Do not attempt to hike alone here. It is illegal. You MUST hike with the operating company and their websites are as follows:
If you are interested in solving puzzles or just chilling out by the lake or heading out to the closest ski field in winter Wanaka has got something for all of us!
No South Island trip can be complete without visiting this lovely town. This is one town that has a totally different vibe to other cities and towns. There are hikers, trekking shops, adventurers and the cafes are hustling bustling with these people talking about their experiences. Just a great town to get inspired.
This is one of my favourites. We have been to Milford Sound in winter and it was just amazing. The beautiful snow, seals, the falls and the sea.. just spectacular and a must visit! Such a serene place.
This is one mountain I would love to climb one day! Yes SOMEDAY! “The Hermitage” provides accommodation near this mountain and the cafe there has got some beautiful views too! And some great walks and hikes and the largest glacier in New Zealand “Tasman Glacier” in Aoraki Mount Cook National Park. LOVE IT!
If you think we have missed anything feel free to add it in the comments and we will make sure that we will add it to our holiday list too!
